Die Verkäufe in Lincoln sind rückläufig und sind in diesem Jahr bisher um 8 Prozent gesunken. Der Autohersteller hat die Neugestaltungspläne für den MKS in voller Größe und den dreireihigen MKT beschleunigt, da die Verkäufe in diesem Jahr für die Limousine um 40 Prozent und für den Crossover um 38 Prozent gesunken sind. Die neu gestalteten MKS und MKT werden im November auf der Los Angeles Auto Show vorgestellt.

Das Redesign wird auch eine technologische Überarbeitung beinhalten. Lincoln plant die Einführung einer Geräuschunterdrückungstechnologie sowie ein Upgrade des MyLincolnTouch-Systems. Die computereinstellbare Lenk- und Federungsfähigkeit ist auch ein Vorreiter für Lincolns Neugestaltung.

Derrick Kuzak, globaler Produktchef von Ford, sagte, dass in den nächsten Jahren sieben neue Lincolns unterwegs sind. Lincoln wird Hinweise auf den Erfolg seines Ende letzten Jahres eingeführten MKZ Hybrid geben, der einen enormen Erfolg hatte, da dieses Auto den ersten Luxus-Hybrid der Einstiegsklasse darstellte.
